Week 13,14,15 – MTN Booklets with pages in Bookbinding order – Life Mapping Weekly Chit Chat

I have designed a set of booklets for MTN (Midori Traveler's Notebook) regular size. Each booklet has 4 months and each month has month at a glance, monthly checklist, week at a glance, to do pages, note pages etc. The page order for booklet is very different from the page order for loose leaf inserts. For example, the page 1 will go together with page 2 for loose leaf inserts but you will find the 1st page will be joined together with the last page in bookbinding order for booklet. Here is the illustration of the page orders for loose leaf inserts and for booklet.   The...

Week 11,12 – Re-arrange your inserts for Planning – Life Mapping Weekly Chit Chat

When we talk about using LM inserts v02.1 for planning, most of you will mention the Charts. Yes it is an effective tool which I am using everyday for planning and tracking. My Monthly Chart (Mar) You can use the monthly chart to track hourly routines too. Use Yearly Chart to track weight, etc. Recently, Joshua has highlighted an issue when he was trying to set up v02.1 for work and projects which the arrangement of the pages will make the Monthly chart visually block the daily pages. I suddenly realized that because I have been using my v02.1 more for recording and tracking...

Week 10 – My Portable Workstation – Life Mapping Weekly Chit Chat

This week I would like to feature how I transfer a"Bag in Bag" Organizer into my little Portable Filofax Workstation. I use it only inside my house. Why I need a portable workstation? Because I draw a lot and do color coding which need more than 20 pens/pencils. I am journaling too so I like to bring my Filos with me everywhere in my house when I am working in my study room, playing coaching my kids in kids' rooms or relaxing on sofa etc. Why I prefer to use a bag but not a big pencil box? I love Smiggle style pencil box but pencil box dose not work well in my house. If I use a pencil...

Week 9 – Dashboard, Sections & Tabs – Life Mapping Weekly Chit Chat

I've made some changes to all my ring binders's dashboards. It's pain to me because I hand drew my dashboards and they are pretty but they affected my productivity everyday. My dashboards (before) --- pretty as a cover but they have no use to me other than put my name on them. When I go shopping with my pocket Filo, it's a pain to flip my pages and to locate my shopping list. I insisted to not stick my shopping list on my dashboard because I didn't want to cover my pretty covers. Sounds silly, but I did this for years.  So finally, last week, I can not stand this any more and I turned...

Week 7 & 8 – Highlight – Life Mapping Weekly Chit Chat

In week 7 and 8,  I would like to talk about "Highlight". Before I start, here is the link to the "Life Mapping Community" Facebook group. This community was created to allow users of this system the opportunity to learn new things, show and tell or for those members not familiar with "life mapping" to learn all about it. The stationery I was using,   From right to left, they are:   "FriXion light" highlighters that match my color coding -- I choose this brand because this is the only brand I know that will not bleed through my inserts Sticky Arrows in Neon color...

Week 5 – Planning & Searching – Life Mapping Weekly Chit Chat

In Week 5 of 2014, I've started planning my Feb ~ Here is the pre-planed Feb Monthly Calendar~ You may noticed that I was no longer using MarkIt Dots but draw Squares to mark my events. This is because, Draw squares are more easier and time saving than locate the MarkIt Dots with the color I want, peel it off and stick it on my calendar; I worried that the MarkIt dots will drop after years. Who knows. Another thing I would like to feature in this week's Chit Chat is how I make my records searchable. I did quite a lot of testings and found that the method below suits me quite...

Week 4 – How to concentrate on To-Dos – Life Mapping Weekly Chit Chat

It is good if you are able to handle everything with only one planner. At least I love to do so. Life Mapping Inserts V02.1 is designed for this so you will have enough room and space to plan/track/record your work and personal life all together. Then the question appears, will that be too overwhelming and how to concentrate on what we need to do every week/everyday? Here are the simple steps to help you out ~ Write down your To-Do list of the week on Weekly one-fold page as showed below when you plan your week; Start with "Must to be Done List" (let's call this List 1). Write down List 1 on your...

Week 3– Color Coding & Index – Life Mapping Weekly Chit Chat

My January Calendar is now very crowded . I plan, I record, but these do not mean I wanna everything to be searchable in future. Normally I would like only my important events, kids' milestones, book/movie reviews to be searchable.  So I use color coding & Index Page Marker , with which I am able to write wherever I like on the inserts. Then I will put my color code beside those special notes/to-dos/journal, and fill that color code in the side bar. Purple in my color code stands for my hobbies. I watched "Awakening" on 17 Jan. To make this searchable, I draw a purple icon...

Week 2– Plan forward – Life Mapping Weekly Chit Chat

Today I would like to chat about planning and how I plan forward. Here is my Week 2 To plan forward, I like to use Round Label Stickers and Washi Tapes with solid color. The smallest Round Label Sticker I can find is Φ 8mm. This size is still too big to me so I cut them into 4 quarters and use. Washi tapes are used to highlight important projects and events. Step 1- plan my month forward. No drawings, photos and/or decorating stickers in this stage so my projects, appointments, events can stand out; Step 2 - plan my week by filling in more details; Step 3 - When I have...
